Chantilly is a town that sits along the eastern bank of the Potomac River. It is located in northern Fairfax County and western Montgomery County, Virginia. The town is served by the Washington Metro's Red Line at the Chantilly station. A large portion of Northern Virginia's business and political elite also call Chantilly home. Chantilly is also home to the headquarters of several large companies, including Lockheed Martin and Booz Allen Hamilton. There are also many upscale shopping centers and numerous restaurants throughout the town.

Chantilly is located in northern Fairfax County, adjacent to the City of Alexandria, Virginia, to the southwest, and western Loudoun County, Virginia, to the northeast. Municipal boundaries in Chantilly include the City of Falls Church to the north, and the City of Fairfax to the south and west. The eastern boundary of Chantilly is the confluence of the Potomac and Rappahannock rivers, at which point the boundary between the two states changes, with the Potomac River becoming the boundary between Virginia and Maryland.

What to See and Do in Chantilly

The Chantilly Historical Society Museum - The Chantilly Historical Society Museum houses a large collection of Virginia and American history artifacts and memorabilia, including a Civil War era uniform worn by Jubal Early, a long time owner of the Marwood House, and a collection of antique firearms. Admission to the museum is $2 for adults, and $1 for children.  The Chantilly Village Shopping Center - The Village Shopping Center is an upscale shopping center located in Chantilly. The shopping center consists of a Borders Bookstore, a Barnes & Noble bookstore, a Whole Foods Market, a Bed Bath & Beyond, Starbucks, a CVS Pharmacy, an Apple Store, and numerous other shops and restaurants. Borders is well known for its annual “Book Sale” event, where customers are allowed to browse through shelves of books for free.

Chantilly Elementary Schools

Located in Chantilly are four public elementary schools. These schools are:  - Mendelsohn School - Peddie School - Thomas Jefferson School - William Jackson School  These elementary schools are all located in or near the Chantilly Village Shopping Center.  The William Jackson School is located at 8600 Braddock Road, and serves students in grades K-5. The Mendelsohn School is located at 12100 Braddock Road, and serves students in grades K-5. The Peddie School is located at 20100 Capital Trail, and serves students in grades K-5. The Thomas Jefferson School is located at 11 Franklin Street, and serves students in grades K-5. The Mendelsohn School is located at 21502 Capital Trail, and serves students in grades K-5.

Chantilly High Schools

Chantilly is also home to two public high schools. These schools are:  - Walter Johnson High School - Thomas Jefferson High School  Both high schools are located near Chantilly Elementary Schools.

How to Get to Chantilly

There are two Metro stations in Chantilly. The Red Line Washington- Frederick station is located at Medical Center Drive and Westwood Drive, and the Orange Line Vienna station is located at Gallows Road and South Washington Street. Both these stations are within a mile of each other and are within walking distance of each other. There are also two bus routes that serve Chantilly. The Route 101 Metrobus route runs between the Washington-Frederick Metro Station and the Chantilly Shopping Center, while the Route 210 Metrobus route runs between the Gallows Road Metro station and Westwood Metro station.

These hotels include the Residence Inn by Marriott, the Comfort Inn, and the Hampton Inn & Suites.  The Marwood House is a historic house located in Chantilly, Virginia. It was built in 1866 for Charles Kemp Marwood, a prominent attorney, businessman, and politician. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966.
